Live big band and swing music performances in museum hangars, featuring tribute bands to legendary 1940s bandleaders with period atmosphere and vintage dress encouraged.
National Warplane Museum
The National Warplane Museum doesn't just preserve the aircraft of the WWII era — we also bring the sights and sounds of the 1940s to life. Our popular Big Band Concert Series transports visitors back in time with the timeless music that defined a generation.
Throughout the year, the Museum hosts live performances featuring authentic big band and swing music in the very hangars that house our historic aircraft. Guests enjoy an evening of dancing, vintage atmosphere, and period dress, surrounded by beautifully restored warbirds — creating a full immersive experience that captures the spirit of the Greatest Generation.
Past concerts have featured renowned tributes to iconic bandleaders such as Glenn Miller, recreating the music that boosted morale both at home and abroad during the war years. This September, we proudly welcome a Tommy Dorsey Tribute Band, bringing one of the swing era's most legendary sounds back to Geneseo. These concerts honor not only the musicians of the 1940s, but also the service members for whom this music provided comfort, energy, and a piece of home during wartime.
Whether you're a lifelong fan of swing music or simply looking for a one-of-a-kind evening, our Big Band Concerts offer an unforgettable way to step into living history.
